Stranraer to see more nursing beds

Following a local feasibility study through local agencies who support older people to judge demand, and the increase in referrals from local statutory service providors, Belmont House, through Guardian Care's Estate Department have submitted plans to extend capacity by a further 12 en-suite rooms.

This will bring Belmont House's occupancy up to 40 single rooms.

Very positive supporting reports were submitted by both Dumfries and Galloway Social Services Department and Dumfries and Galloway NHS Trust who commission placements at Belmont House, to the planning committee and on Wednesday 3rd March 2010, the Planning Officer, after extensive consultation with the Home, recomended the application proceed.

The Scottish Care Commission's local Inspectors are very supportive of this development following recent inspections and will co-oncide with the local regeneration plan being undertaken in the Belmont area of Stranraer.
Belmont House will become a focal point for the older adults in the community.

This is part of a significant on-going investment by Guardian Care (Caledonia) Ltd in Dumfries and Galloway and both the Residents & Staff team are extremely excited about this development which will see Belmont House become the major provider of Residential Care services in Stranraer and the South West of Scotland.
